Acts 5:14 And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.
15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.
16 There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
When we hear the word “shadow”, mostly our mind will jump to the dark place on the ground that extends from our feet on the ground away from our body always based according to the sun’s position or another light source. As children we all have set up a light and made “shadow images” on the wall with our hands.
As we study the scriptures, we find many verses with the word “shadow” contained therein. We will also find that there are shadows of good and also shadows of bad. Psalms 23 mentions the valley of the “shadow” of death.
Dictionaries ascribe so many meanings to “shadow” that it would take up a lot of space. So our scope will be just from the scriptures. Let’s examine the Law of First Use. “Shadow” is first used in the scriptures in the horrible account in Sodom with Lot and his daughters. This account is very hard to digest and realize that such a situation did actually take place.
Gen 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
Shadow is #6738 tsel (tsale); from 6751; shade, whether literal or figurative:
If we use the Englishman’s Search for #6738 we find the second use of #6738 to be found in Numbers 14 but it is translated “defense”.
Num 14:9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defense (#6738) is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
Seeing that #6738 can mean “shadow” or “defense” within the scriptures will be important for the direction we are heading with this examination of scripture. “Defense” will make even more sense to us if we insert “defense” into Psalms 91.
Ps 91:1 He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the
shadow (#6738) or the “defense” of the Almighty.
When we use the Strongs Dictionary and look at the Hebrew definitions of the words, sometimes they shed more light, which seems to enhance the scripture and make a more serious promise to the people of God. Some of the word definitions have a good and bad meaning but we will work through that as we go using the good definitions. Let’s expand Ps 91:1 even further.
He that dwells is #3427 yashab (yaw-shab'); a primitive root; properly, to sit down (specifically as judge. in ambush, in quiet); by implication, to dwell, to remain; causatively, to settle, to marry:
In the secret place of is #5643 cether (say'-ther); or (feminine) cithrah from 5641; a cover (in a good or a bad, a literal or a figurative sense):
from #5641 cathar (saw-thar'); a primitive root; to hide (by covering), literally or figuratively:
the most High is #5945 'elyown (el-yone'); from 5927; an elevation, i.e. (adj.) lofty (compar.); as title, the Supreme:
shall abide is #3885 luwn (loon); or liyn (leen); a primitive root; to stop (usually over night); by implication, to stay permanently; hence (in a bad sense) to be obstinate (especially in words, to complain):
under the shadow of is #6738 tsel (tsale); from 6751; shade, whether literal or figurative:
Remember the KJV also translates this word as “defense”, shade (-ow).
The root is #6751 tsalal (tsaw-lal'); a primitive root [identical with 6749 through the idea of hovering over (compare 6754)]; to shade, as twilight or an opaque object:
the Almighty is #7706 Shadday (shad-dah'-ee); from 7703; the Almighty:
If we mess around a little with some JWT style translation here, this scripture might be expanded a bit without adding to the real meaning or taking away from the real meaning.
Ps 91:1 He that judges to dwell and remain in the secret place of the covering of the most High Supreme shall abide and stay permanently under the shadow and defense of the Almighty. (JWT)
Some time back, when all the Covid-19 vaccination information of fear was being poured out there, especially about those who choose to take the vaccine, it was declared by notable Doctors that the vaccinated individuals would begin to shed some stuff that would affect the unvaccinated very negatively. There were Doctors on the net saying that the unvaccinated should not be anywhere close to the vaccinated. Well, we all have family and friends who have chosen to receive the vaccine. Some reading this may have also chosen to receive the vaccine. So what now??? Is anything is too hard for God?
While praying about this, I told the Lord that I did not feel that staying away from friends and family was the correct answer but I did not know the correct answer. So I asked the Lord to reveal to me an answer and a solution to this situation, in which we have all found ourselves. The wicked workers of iniquity and the evil doers are trying to create a war between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated!
Just a few days later, as I was walking across my yard, suddenly I felt these words just come into my mind. “The healing shadow of Peter healed those people in Acts chapter 5 was not that little dark thing on the ground that follows people around when the sun is shining”! I thought Hummmm! So off the Bible to check it out!
First we should understand the spiritual condition recorded in the scriptures, as pertaining to the believers in Acts 4 before these healings took place in Acts 5.
Acts 4:32a And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul:
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
upon is #1909 epi (ep-ee'); a primary preposition; properly, meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.), as a relation of distribution [with the genitive case], i.e. over, upon, etc.; of rest (with the det.) at, on, etc.; of direction (with the accusative case) towards, upon, etc.:
Acts 5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.)
We can see in the scriptures that Jesus healed whole towns. Jesus said that the works that He did those who believe on Him would do also. Acts 5 is conformation of that Truth. So let’s examine these scriptures.
shadow is #4639 skia (skee'-ah); apparently a primary word; "shade" or a shadow (literally or figuratively [darkness of error or an adumbration]):
Notice that the Greek word #4639 has almost the same definition as the Hebrew word #6738. Both contain the word “shade”.
This seems to indicate that we can bring our enhanced JWT translation of Psalms 91:1 into the New Testament. What think ye?
Well if we go just a bit further we run into an interesting word, which is “overshadow”! Is any one getting excited here? Well, we should be! The word overshadow is a derivative of #4639 as above, but there is some interesting icing on the cake here.
might overshadow is #1982 episkiazo (ep-ee-skee-ad'-zo); from 1909 and a derivative of 4639; to cast a shade upon, i.e. (by analogy) to envelope in a haze of brilliancy; figuratively, to invest with preternatural influence:
from #1909 epi (ep-ee'); a primary preposition; properly, meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.), as a relation of distribution [with the genitive case], i.e. over, upon, etc.; of rest (with the det.) at, on, etc.; of direction (with the accusative case) towards, upon, etc.:
Lets add some English definitions here, just for our viewing pleasure.
envelope: to invest with a covering as an envelope envelops a letter. math, A curve or surface
that is tangent to every one of a family of curves or surfaces. Think of the longitude lines on a globe of
the earth.
brilliancy: Glorious; splendor, magnificent. Superb, great brightness, wonderful.
invest: To clothe, dress or put on array as invest with a mantle or robe.
preternatural: Out of or being beyond the normal course of nature; transcending the natural or
material order; supernatural.
influence: A power affecting a person, thing, or course of events, especially one that operates
without any direct or apparent effort.
It seems that we, as the body of Christ, have not fully understood that, just as with many of the Psalms, chapter 91:1 is prophecy of that which would be installed into the body of Christ and available to every believer after Jesus rose from the dead.
Think about this, Peter is the one who denied the Lord three times just a very short time back, even with cursing. This mighty act of healing by Peter could not possibly be based on Peter, for goodness sake! That fact should give all of us a lot of hope, confidence and boldness!
The Lord Jesus has clothed us and arrayed us and invested us with the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our heart by which we cry Abba Father. Jesus has given us the same mantle that he carried on the earth with His Words saying, “the works that I do shall you do also.” John 14:12
So let’s not forget that this is all in answer to the question about the vaccinated. What are we as Jesus followers, born again, believers, supposed to do? So when we shuck this down to the cob, this is what the answer might be determined to be. Please give consideration to this question also. If you get some light, We would love to hear it!!!
The Father of our Lord Jesus has enveloped us protecting the Spirit of Christ that dwells within us with the envelope of the Holy Spirit, who is on the outside of us, as with a sphere of curves that join all the tangents to every curve. This makes a complete sphere. Within this sphere there is contained the glorious, magnificence and splendor of superb wonderful great light of the glorious gospel endued with miracle power. This power that works within us is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. The power that works within us is the Law of the Spirit of Christ.
Through the spirit of Christ we are well able to operate in the preternatural realm far beyond the normal course of nature. We are empowered to transcend the natural and material realm. We are the Sons of God and designed to operate in the supernatural realm just as Jesus did on the earth.
We as the body of Christ and Sons of God are to make known unto the principalities and powers in the heavenlies the manifold wisdom of God! Have we? We are to just exude with supernatural powers, affecting persons, things, and the course of events. All of these demonstrations of miracles and power should be without any of our own fleshly efforts, strivings and boastings and the whole of creation is waiting to see the ecclesia manifest as Sons of God.
So, should anyone who has Covid, or who has been vaccinated and even shedding all kinds of spike proteins and other harmful things, should they come into our sphere of the “shadow defense” of the Almighty, they should get a healing from the Spirit of Christ that dwells within us. Certainly, we should not be adversely affected by the natural bio-weapon developed by the wicked. That is not our inheritance.
When we go to minister to anyone affected by Covid-19 or having bad side effects from the vaccination, we should know of a certainty that we are covered by the Spirit of God and we should expect to see all of them healed in the name of Jesus so that the Father shall be glorified by His Son on the earth.
Grace and Peace multiplied in the name of Jesus.
