ARE WE BELIEVERS KINGS AND PRIESTS UNTO GOD?

It will be of necessity to examine the scriptures very closely to determine the answer to the above question. Of course, believers are referring to those who have confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior and are members of the body of Christ, which is the church. Some Bible translations state that we are kings and priest unto God. Other translations state that we are a kingdom of priest unto God. Are we believers kings and priests unto God or are we believer’s a kingdom of priest unto God? John, writing the cover letter to the churches in Revelation includes this statement.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

kings is #932 basileia (bas-il-i'-ah); from 935; properly, royalty, i.e. (abstractly) rule, or (concretely) a realm (literally or figuratively):

The root #935 basileus (bas-il-yooce'); probably from 939 (through the notion of a foundation of power); a sovereign (abstractly, relatively, or figuratively):

priests is #2409 hiereus (hee-er-yooce'); from 2413; a priest (literally or figuratively):

Let’s look at one other Bible translation. The NIV and several others Bibles follow this translation of verse #6.

Rev 1:6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father-- to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. (NIV)

It seems that the NIV authors and those who are similar to the NIV have taken the word #932 basileia and skipped over the first meaning, “properly, royalty, rule” and used the last meaning which is  “realm.” Some might suggest that this is poor translating. We agree.

(AHD) royalty, pl. royalties. 1.a. A person of royal rank or lineage. b. Monarchs and their families considered as a group.

God is a Monarch and Peter boldly states the status of we who have believed and confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior.

1 Pet 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

royal is #934 basileios (bas-il'-i-os); from 935; kingly (in nature):

priesthood is #2406 hierateuma (hee-er-at'-yoo-mah); from 2407; the priestly fraternity, i.e. sacerdotal order (figuratively):

In the scriptures, there are only three who have held both titles of being a “king” and a “priest” at the same time! The first is Melchizedek. The second is Jesus the Son of God. The third is the body of Christ.

Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most-high God.

Ps 110:1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Ps 110:4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. (i.e. a king and a priest)

1 Pet 2:9 But ye (believers) are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

We should not allow our self to be deceived by those who poorly translate the Word of God. The same pertains to those who paraphrase the scriptures and call it the Bible.

1 Tim 6:15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

King is #2962  kurios (koo'-ree-os); from kuros (supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun) controller; by implication, Mr. (as a respectful title):

kings is #2961 kurieuo (ko-ree-yoo'-o); from 2962; to rule:

Lord is #2962 kurios (koo'-ree-os); from kuros (supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun) controller; by implication, Mr. (as a respectful title):

lords is #2961 kurieuo (ko-ree-yoo'-o); from 2962; to rule:

Believers are members of the body of Christ and we are also kings of the King and we are also lords of the Lord, The body of Christ should be ruling as kings on the earth. The body of Christ should be ministering the gospel as priests of God on the earth.

We see in Revelation 17 what will take place on the earth when the false Christ and the beast are in full swing.

Rev 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

During the dispensation of grace, the Lord Jesus left the chosen and faithful on the earth with all authority and power over all the power of the enemy and Jesus is expecting to see us defeat the Devil and his Luciferian agenda of taking over the earth in this time period of the dispensation of grace.

Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

Defeating the Devil and his minions during this dispensation of grace has been given into the charge of the church, which is His Body. Are we operating on the earth as kings of the King?

The North American churches has failed in teaching and equipping the members of the body of Christ that we are kings on the earth and how to operate in that official position on the earth and that our job is to put the enemy under foot.

We will proceed shortly in posting more Bible instructions of how to know that we are kings on the earth during the dispensation of grace and how to operate in that official position on the earth in the nitty gritty here and now.

Grace and Peace multiplied in the name of Jesus.
